At Home Clear Aligners

We treat patients from the age of 14 years old. If you are under 18 years of age we require parental consent. We do have to ensure that you have lost all of your baby teeth before starting treatment.

There are a few reasons why someone might not be eligible for at-home clear aligners. While clear aligners are an effective and convenient solution for many people, they are not suitable for all dental conditions. Here are some common reasons why someone might not qualify for at-home treatment:

1. Complex Orthodontic Issues: If a person has severe misalignment, bite problems, or significant teeth movement required, they may need more intensive treatment that requires in-office care with regular supervision.
2. Gum Disease or Poor Oral Health: Individuals with untreated gum disease, cavities, or other oral health problems may need to address these issues before starting clear aligner treatment. Poor oral health can affect the success of the treatment and may cause complications.
3. Age Restrictions: While adults are typically good candidates for clear aligners, younger patients whose teeth and jaws are still developing may not be eligible for at-home aligner treatment. In such cases, traditional braces or supervised orthodontic care may be more appropriate. Our cut off is 14+.
4. Non-Compliant Patients: At-home clear aligner treatment requires a high level of responsibility and consistency, as aligners need to be worn for 20-22 hours per day. If a patient is unable to commit to this routine, they may not be a good candidate for at-home aligners.
5. Severe Teeth Movement or Complex Cases: If your teeth require significant movement or rotation, or if there are issues such as missing teeth, a history of jaw surgery, or other complex dental needs, in-office treatment with professional monitoring might be a better option.
   

Ultimately, eligibility for at-home aligners is determined on a case-by-case basis.

Wear your aligners for 20-22 hours a day, or 10-12 hours a day if you're using our Night Time Clear Aligners. The only times you should remove them are for cleaning, brushing, flossing, and whitening.
